About Jim

Jim Roof (ASMP, AIAP, IAAP) has been photographing architecture and interiors for over 25 years. Based in the Atlanta, Georgia area, Jim has served hundreds of the nation's leading architects, interior designers, real estate developers, ad agencies and general contractors.

Jim has photographed nearly 2000 projects including churches, office buildings, skyscrapers, corporate interiors, shopping malls, hospitals, multi-family residences, schools, etc., many with dramatic results that have resulted in regional and national recognition for his clients through print publication and design awards competitions.

Jim's artistic sensitivity was nurtured during his years of training as a concert pianist. He firmly believes that his musical training has had a profound influence on the way he views architecture and in the way he strives to photograph it. He seeks out the motifs, recurring rhythmic forms and the broad thematic lines that are seen in thoughtful structural design as much as they are heard musical composition. He believes that there are universal elements that are common threads to all artistic disciplines.

Jim started his career shooting large format film and has recently made a highly successful transition to digital photography. His images still have the look and feel of film but with the convenience and unique problem solving capabilities of modern digital technology.
